As a BPI Affiliate, Refresh Homes provides BPI-recognized one-on-one fast-track training and testing for Building Analyst and Shell/Envelope Professional certifications. We provide online "written" testing for all other BPI certifications. We are now offering BPI-recognized Continuing Education in 2, 4, and 6 hour sessions for those already certified; these sessions are custom, needs-based, and available to fit your schedule.
Our one-on-one training is customized according to your skill-level and is designed for individuals already familiar with typical residential construction. As a candidate seeking BPI certification, you are responsible for acquiring the information and understanding necessary to pass the tests. Refresh Homes training provides custom tailored review and clarification of concepts and equipment to help you along the path to certification.
Required reading prior to the training is Residential Energy by Krigger and Dorsi. Specific chapters and additional pre-training assignments will be provided. BASE (BA and Shell/Envelope) Package: the cost is $2500 (plus travel expenses) per person for training and testing for both Building Analyst and Envelope Professional certifications. Typical trainings are two and a half days in a house you provide and one day of field training and testing in a house you provide. We can provide equipment for training and testing and our testing fees may be reimbursable (up to $375 per certification) through New Jersey's Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program. You must verify eligibility requirements with the Program --Kelly Hansen is the contact person and can provide the necessary forms.
BPI testing without training is available at a rate of $250 per online/written test and $400 per field test (plus travel expenses to a house you provide.) We can provide guidance for those wishing to seek training on their own. You are highly encouraged to explore your options for training and testing. In New Jersey, Conservation Services Group offers reimbursable training and testing (there are hoops and a waiting list), Saturn Resource Management offers excellent online training and we can supplement their training with field training and testing.
